ABOUT ME
I’m LaBria Anique, your new fashion designer who loves feminine and masculine silhouettes while also being able to mix both silhouettes together.
I remember when I was young and saw ‘Real Love’ by Mary J. Blidge music video and seeing her in the white outfit towards the end I remember how captivated I was. Seeing her all white outfit that looked so elegant and feminine on her. Then for it to be accessorized with a white fitted (baseball hat) that complemented the outfit perfectly. Seeing the feminine silhouette mixing well with masculine lines. I knew from that moment that I loved clothes. But as I grew up I didn’t know what to do next. Until I was watching a show called ‘That’s So Raven’ and I saw that she was a fashion designer. And that’s when I thought to myself “Oh I can do this for a living!”. That’s all it took for me to pursue my passion. I went to a vocational high school where I learned how to sew and design. I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Merchandising and have been working at my career ever since.
As I look back on my journey I am reminded why I do it and why I love it so much. And the word is REPRESENTATION. Representation matters and just like the representation the two black women I mentioned represented for me, I want to make sure I represent a group of people that love both feminine and masculine fashionable pieces.
I operate as a one woman business where everything is handmade by me. I love designing but the main thing I love is seeing the smile on people’s faces when they wear any kind of my designs.
